What brought you to One Life?

I was never overweight when I was younger.  I was always active and never really watched what I ate.  After college, I started to gain weight and struggle with the workand life balance.  I just could not lose the weight anymore by working out.  I knew I needed a change.   My friend who recently had success with One Life to lose weight for her wedding was talking about One Life non stop on her bachelorette party, so once I got back, I called to make an appointment.


How much weight did you lose?

My intention was to first lose 20 pounds, but after the fast success, I ended up changing my goal three times.  I ended up losing 50 pounds in total.  I think I lost 7 pounds my first week and started to feel so good from the beginning that I just wanted to keep going.  I never felt like I was on a diet.  It was really exciting losing the weight.  Every week I lost weight at my one on one appointments, so that was very motivating the whole way.


What did One Life teach you about weight loss?

I have had a whole change in mentality and approach to health and weight.  One Life taught me my biggest change I need to make is the food I eat.  I always felt like I knew what I needed to do to lose weight.  I was always someone who would workout like crazy and stick to a diet.  Which would work in the short term, but not the long run.  But One Life taught me to focus on foods and how much I consume.  Portion control was key and also the importance of protein in my day.  I also realized that with One Life, it’s about lifestyle, so I do not have to “find time” to diet and workout.  I just make daily changes to my food intake and focus on the one aspect of food.  Once you start feeling better and losing weight, all the other pieces of the puzzle fall into place.


Did you have any tips or tricks that helped keep you on track?

I now eat protein before noon to keep me fuller longer.  I have pretty much cut out carbs or found great replacements for them.  I love the One Life protein bars and shakes, they are the perfect snack in the middle of the day.  The snack ideas in the One Life book were also very helpful for me.  I would plan ahead and stash good snack options at the office so I would not get too hungry.  That really helped keep me on track.


What is the difference between One Life and other weight loss places?

The way that One Life determines your block count and what foods are associated with a certain number of blocks.  One Life puts a good value on certain food groups.  You can’t just eat as much fruit as you want like other diets.  It is so easy to follow and not intimidating at all.  It is very manageable, even with my busy schedule.  Other places are too restricting or too loose.  With One Life, there is variety in what you can eat.  There is structure but it is not impractical.  And of course the staff is incredible.  They have all been there and give you encouragement along the way.  The weekly handouts they give you are so well written and help so much with making the right food choices and understanding weight loss and nutrition.


How has One Life changed the perception of yourself?

I think I am still adjusting to my new body.  My mind is still in chubby mode.  I have had to buy all new clothes and now I can dress and be the person I always wanted to be in my mind.  I am so much more comfortable now with myself.  I am a tall woman and now I embrace the height, because now, I am thin!  My pants are 5 sizes smaller now!


What would you say to someone thinking about joining One Life?

With One Life, I feel that you are really investing in your weight loss.  It is not cheap, but it is worth every penny.  When something is cheap, there is not incentive to follow the plan and stick to it.  People go to experts and pay good money all the time for experts in the area. like your hair stylist or your personal trainer or your accountant.  That is how I view One Life.  They are the experts and you will end up saving money in the long run by not wasteful spending on bad food.  I was always a bit arrogant when it came to working out and dieting.  I thought I did not need help.  But the fact is we all do.  Having One Life guide you through the process and set you up for long term success is priceless.
