I started the diet at the end of August and met my goal in April. That’s 8 months! I actually lowered my goal as I was nearing it as I found it so easy to lose the weight. One Life changed everything for me. I was told I was pre-diabetic and on blood pressure medicine at the time I started One Life. My health now is the best it has ever been and I am so happy again.

INTERVIEW

What brought you to One Life?

I was referred by my good friend. I was really unsure at first - especially with the appetite suppressants, but I had heard great things and I decided to give it a try.

How much weight did you lose?

It took me 8 months to lose around 90 pounds. I actually lowered my goal as I was nearing it. I went from 228 to my goal at 150, and then lowered it to 140. I am now maintaining 138-140. And so yes, I have kept it off!

What else has changed for you since losing the weight?

I have always been an active person who loves working out. I am happiest when I can have an intense workout. As I started to gain weight, as I got older, the workouts decreased and eventually stopped. I just had too much weight on my knees and was in pain. I ended up going to see an acupuncturist and a nutritionist to help with the pain and weight loss. Nothing was helping. Once I started One Life and the weight started to come off, my workouts started to increase again and I started to feel like myself again. I was not in as much pain.

What has Dr. Haynes and One Life taught you about losing weight?

Dr. Haynes made me understand that I needed to eat in a way that was proportional and only eat what my body needed. I was working out loads but then eating too many calories. One of the best things about One Life is that you can have anything you want on the diet. I don’t have to have a “cheat” day, as I will indulge in something if I want it - I just have to count it! On the 2nd week on the diet - I was laughing with my friends having drinks at the races and thinking how is this a “diet” if I am having this great of a time?

What were some of your tips or tricks that helped you out along the way?

I enlisted my entire family on the diet. I made my kids very aware of what I was doing and how the diet worked. They would say to me, “do you have enough blocks left to be eating that?” or “Mom, did you count that?” I also started learning different vegetables to cook and really enjoying them. I eat a lot of seafood now and even brussel sprouts!

How has One Life changed the perception of yourself?

One Life has changed everything for me. I was going through a very difficult time before I decided to join. I was told that I was pre-diabetic and on blood pressure medication. One Life helped me do what I wanted to do and be who I wanted to be again. I am currently off all my medications and my blood work is normal and my mental stability is so much better. I am happy again. People literally do not recognize me. I have to tell them who I am if they have not seen me in a while. It is such a great feeling.

What is the One Life Difference?

The entire staff is so unassuming. They are so totally about you and only want to know how they can help you on your weight loss journey. The fact that they have a no contract or commitment policy is a game changer. It makes you build your strength and do the job you came there to do.

What would you say to someone thinking about joining One Life?

Just go and ask - ask as many questions you have and try it. You have to be ready to make a change and make it work for you - but once you do, you will never look back.
